Narrative
MADISON CO., NE – A 72-year-old woman died last Friday in a two-vehicle accident along the highway in southeast Madison County.
The wreck occurred at 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 81 and North Main Street. This is just north of the city of Madison.
Police say that a 2010 Chrysler Town travelling on Highway 81 struck a 2004 Chevy Malibu when the latter vehicle turned onto the highway from North Main Street.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as Merridy Tomaske of Norfolk, died after transport to an area hospital.
Medics transported the other driver, identified as 32-year-old Sarah Robinson of Madison, to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
Drivers experienced delays along the highway while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
