Narrative
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A child died, and four other people went to the hospital Thursday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi in Indianapolis.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on I-70 eastbound just west of the south split. This is just east of Indianapolis International Airport.
Police say that an eastbound semi rear-ended a disabled van carrying three kids and two adults in the shoulder.
Medics transported all five occupants of the van to the hospital, where a 7-year-old girl died.
Officials closed several lanes of I-70 eastbound while crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.
