Narrative
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A fatal two-vehicle collision on I-75 just north of the Selmon Expressway left four dead on Thursday afternoon, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when a 36-year-old Clearwater man, attempting to change lanes, collided with another southbound pickup truck. The impact caused both vehicles to spin on the interstate.
The Clearwater man’s truck overturned upon entering the median, ejecting all four occupants — the driver, a 34-year-old woman, a 12-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old Texas boy. All four victims succumbed to their injuries. Police say they were not wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.
The second truck, driven by a 30-year-old South Carolina man, safely halted in the emergency lane, with his passengers, a 4-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl, escaping the crash unhurt.
