Narrative
SHELBY CO., AL – A 76-year-old man died, and a woman sustained injuries Wednesday in a wrong-way crash in central Shelby County.
The accident happened just east of Chelsea on US-280 near mile marker 19. This is about 39 minutes southeast of Birmingham.
Police aren’t yet sure what caused a driver to enter the wrong side of US-280.
Authorities declared the wrong-way driver, identified as Donald M. Harris, deceased at the scene.
Medics transported the other driver, 46-year-old Jennifer H. Robbins, to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
