Narrative
BROOKSVILLE, FL – A 47-year-old woman died, and three teens were injured in a wrong-way collision along a major roadway in central Hernando County Tuesday.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. on Citrus Way near Kensington Road in the city of Brooksville. This is just northeast of the Janet Butterfield Brooks Preserve WEA.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound Hyundai Elantra entered the southbound lanes of traffic and crashed nearly head on with a southbound Hyundai Accent.
A passenger in the Accent died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities haven’t yet named the victim publicly.
Medics transported the 17-year-old driver of the Accent, the 18-year-old driver of the Elantra, and a 15-year-old passenger from the Elantra to the hospital with serious injuries.
