RALEIGH, NC – A 47-year-old died, and two others were hurt when a vehicle crashed into a house in the Battery Heights area of Raleigh.
The incident happened near the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Poole Road, which is just southwest of Richard B. Harrison Community Library.
Police say that the 28-year-old driver of a 2016 Ford Explorer lost control near the intersection and drove onto a residential sidewalk, hitting three other men.
One of the men, identified as Demetrius Smith, died after transport to a local hospital. Two other men struck at the Raleigh home also sustained injuries in the crash.
It is unclear if the driver of the Ford and his passenger required hospitalization for injuries sustained in the crash.
