FLORENCE, KY – A man was killed early Thursday when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in northern Kentucky.
Responding to the scene just after midnight, authorities determined that a Honda Civic, traveling in the left lane of Houston Road, collided with a pedestrian attempting to cross. Despite attempts to stop, the driver was unable to avoid the impact.
The pedestrian, identified as 65-year-old Carl Ickes from Commerce Township, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Florence Police Department officials identified the driver of the Honda Civic, noting that they did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.
The investigation remains underway.
